Why We Built This
When we first started researching Colombia, the information landscape was a mess. Travel blogs with outdated advice. Forum posts full of hearsay. YouTube videos that were more about the creator's brand than the country. What we needed — and couldn't find — was a single, reliable starting point that covered the practical questions foreigners actually ask: How does healthcare work? Can I buy property? What does a month actually cost? How do the visas work?
WhyColombia.co is that starting point. We built it because we needed it, and because every new person who asks "should I move to Colombia?" deserves better than the information we had when we asked the same question.
What This Site Does
This site covers the major reasons foreigners come to Colombia — healthcare, real estate, investing, retirement, cost of living, relocation, travel, sports betting, and digital nomad life. Each guide provides real, factual information. No fabricated statistics, no inflated promises, no testimonials from people who don't exist. Where we link to specialized resources, it's because we've built or vetted those resources ourselves.
We don't sell anything on this site. There are no lead capture forms, no email signups, and no pushy sales funnels. Where We Are
We're based in Medellín, Colombia. Not writing from a beach in Bali about a country we visited once. We live here. We deal with the same visa renewals, the same utility bills, the same rainy season, and the same daily decisions that every foreign resident faces. That's the perspective this site is built from.
